India’s problem with a lack of general direction goes deep. You could give it a military or geopolitical dimension by calling it absent “grand strategy”, but nations cannot be boxed into narrow constructs such as these. Vision is better.
Women’s concerns are usually overlooked as their participation in public meetings (like village council meetings or public hearings) is less, not only as participants but also as leaders of the community. This is usually due to lack of time, and also due to men monopolising the outcome of discussions by obstructing women’s voices.
Through research, I came to know that unfortunately, modern Pakistan
is not what Jinnah envisioned his nation to be. In fact, Jinnah never had in mind an exclusively autonomous, separate Islamic state. He simply foresaw a much stronger voice
and influence for Muslims in a greater India.
Jinnah argued that Tilak’s speeches were translated in a manner which
obscured original intent. All of Tilak’s speeches, he maintained, were comments expressing dissatisfaction with governmental measures aiming to bring about change by lawful means, without exciting hatred, contempt or disaffection.
Lokmanya Tilak championed education in vernacular languages, vocational education, and a focus on traditional Indian knowledge with the aim of changing people’s mindset, and creating good citizenry that would work for the betterment of India.
